International Day against Sex Abuse and Trafficking of Children: 4th June

Paedophilia: A hedonic addiction to Child Sex Abuse!

The reality television show, Satyamev Jayate creating sensation all over and endeavouring to enlighten and evoke the mass of the harsh realities and cruxes prevailing in India, brought up several important issues and agendas into light with as much supportive evidences and bygone cases and other criteria as well. One of the episodes of the same, broadcasting an extremely sensitive yet a macabre reality of ‘child sexual abuse’ in the society that not only astonished the spectators but also appalled the conscience and condemned the macabre truth existing simultaneous to the moralistic civilized society. Recollecting all of this we come across a remarkably striking question of ‘why do such convicts commit such satanic deeds? What prompts them to do so?’ On the occasion of 4th June-Internationally acknowledged as the day against Child Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Mandarshan Mission unveils the psychogenic factor encased behind this enigmatic inhumane mental modulation, which in psychoanalytical term is known to be as ‘Paedophilia’ and people deriving pleasure from such activities and behaviour are called ‘Paedophilic’.

Sharing an affectionate or a fun-filled gesture, a laugh with the little ones, pampering them, playing around with children reminiscences us of our own childhood and kindles the child within each one of us for those moments, bringing a feeling of euphoria and refreshment. Bestowing love and affection over kids renders a serene fulfilment and satisfaction to the child within us. Such a joyous fulfilment is a healthy mental food for a person.  However, to the bewilderment of the common mass there are some who derive satisfaction and joyous pleasure only from an unhealthy, morbid aspect of this mental food. More explicitly, such people instead of bestowing love and affection on these small innocent kids rather feel pleased and satisfied in sexually exploiting, abusing and molesting them. Gradually, this mentality and grotesque behaviour transcends and accentuates to such a level that the mental craving for abusing and exploiting innocents takes the form of a mental malady called paedophilia.

The mental surveillance research under the aegis of Mandarshan Psychoanalytical Mission, founded by Dr Alok Mandarshan, reports that people suffering from this mental ailment called paedophilia, not only pose a threat to the society but strikingly victimize innocent children and minors.  Paedophilia stricken person renders innocent children with harsh and morbid physical and mental exploitation deriving pleasure and mental food from such activities which no sooner transforms to such a level of addiction that the paedophilic innovates and executes even more macabre/brutal ways to exploit and abuse the kids, which includes sexual molestation, stabbing/cutting, burning, and even so cannibalisation i.e. stabbing the victim to pieces to consume their flesh. Paedophilic patients view such innocents as a toy to accomplish their satanic and merciless eroticism, since that is the only thought their mind is dominated with, while it is important to notice that their targets are children or “paedo”, and their attraction towards them “philia”, terms them as paedophile. Not just because kids are an easy target, but a paedophile feels sexually attracted more to the kids ignoring those of their same age or elder/majors. This not only leads to the loss of childhood of the victims, but also impedes their confidence and courage, fetters their  morality, inhibiting their healthy physical and mental growth, making them prone to psychiatric ailments like depression, paranoia, etc and to the most brutal extent, this can turn out morbidly fatal for them.

On the basis of the database derived through India’s first telephonic psychotherapy helpline 09453152200, gathering paedophilic census states quite a fair number of paedophiles, although who are entirely drowned into depression now, nevertheless admitted on confidential grounds of their mentality and craving towards children to exploit/molest them for mental satisfaction, either by sexual means or even other brutal ways. However due to social hesitation and embarrassment they were unable to confide their grotesque thoughts and actions to anyone, neither could they be acknowledged of the fact that such irresistible beastly behaviour is a mental malady which is clinically treatable. Goa is notably emerging as a hub for canny PAEDOPHILICS, who are supplied with smuggled children which are either orphan, kidnapped or helpless poor, merely for making money. Arabian Countries are particularly known for gambling over the lives of children who are brought from backward and other country. Forcibly tying these kids on camel’s back and bidding them for race, which leaves most of them crippled, crying and even up to their death while they derive hedonic pleasure through the children’s helpless mournful-cries. It also is an example of PAEDOPHILIA.

Psychodynamic Factors leading to Paedophilia:

  • The Paedophilics mother might have gone through severe stages of stress and torturous experiences during their pregnancy.
  • Deprivation of love and support of family in the childhood.
  • Physical and mental exploitation during childhood.
  • Excessive embarrassment and mockery by the peer and fellow-mates.
  • Feeling of inferiority.
  • Negative viewpoint towards life and problems.
  • Addiction to alcohol and drug, violent and aggressive attitude.
  • Immoral and inhumane ways of pleasure-seeking.
  • Negative sensitivity.
  • Mental-maladies like depression, mania and schizophrenia may also give way to PAEDOPHILIA.

Treatment:

  • Acknowledging the patient with the fact that he is suffering from a mental disorder called PAEDOPHILIA and assuring him that it is completely treatable.
  • Re-assuring the patient against the social hesitation and stigma on confidential ground.
  • Re-establishing affection, love and emotional support in the patient’s family.
  • Such patients are highly likely to be gripped with addictive substances in case of not being able to fulfil their hedonic addiction to derive pleasure from paedophilic activities. Therefore, these patients have to be treated for de-addiction in parallel to their paedophilic obsession.
  • Virtual exposure therapy and fantasy de-sensitization therapy could prove of optimal therapeutic effect.
